Computers normally sort text by Unicode code point, which has nothing to do with the order of the Uyghur alphabet. A plain A–Z sort of Arabic-script Uyghur words scrambles them: letters that follow each other in a Uyghur dictionary end up far apart. This tool sorts by the real Uyghur alphabetical order (ئېلىپبە تەرتىپى), so word lists, glossaries and name lists come out in the order a Uyghur reader expects.
The Uyghur alphabet has 32 letters, in this order: ا ە ب پ ت ج چ خ د ر ز ژ س ش غ ف ق ك گ ڭ ل م ن ھ و ۇ ۆ ۈ ۋ ې ى ي. The hemze (ئ) is not a letter of its own; it only carries a vowel, so a word such as ئالما (alma, “apple”) is sorted under ا, exactly as if the hemze were not there. The tool applies the same order to the Latin (ULY) and Cyrillic (USY) forms of each letter.
Put one entry per line, choose ascending (A→Z) or descending (Z→A), and remove duplicate lines when a list has repeats. It is useful for glossaries, dictionary entries, reference lists, class registers and any list of Uyghur names. The script is detected automatically, and you can sort and de-duplicate in the same pass.
