Paste your text and every word is looked up in a Uyghur dictionary. Words that are not found are flagged, and the checker suggests the closest matches, ranked by how likely each is to be the word you meant. The matching is based on edit distance, so a missing, extra, swapped or wrong letter is usually caught. Because Uyghur builds words from long chains of suffixes, treat a suggestion as help rather than a verdict — proper names, loanwords and new terms may simply be missing from the dictionary.

Most errors come from a small set of problems: forgetting or wrongly adding the hemze (ئ) that carries a word-initial vowel; mixing up similar vowel letters such as ە and ې, or ۇ, ۆ, ۈ and ۋ; and typing with an Arabic or Persian keyboard layout, which produces look-alike letters (for example ي instead of ى, ك instead of the Persian ک, or ه instead of ھ). These look correct on screen but are different characters, so search, sorting and spell checking all fail on them.

Mixing scripts inside a single word — a Latin letter in the middle of an Arabic-script word, for instance — is another frequent cause of flagged words.

Use a proper Uyghur keyboard layout, write in the Arabic script (UEY) when you want to spell check, and check names and technical terms yourself. If your text is in Latin or Cyrillic, convert it to UEY first with the script converter. After fixing spelling, run the punctuation checker so commas, question marks and quotation marks use the correct Uyghur forms.
